Concrete Garage Floor
Are you worried about the
longevity of your concrete garage floor? If you can spare a little time and money for a paint job, you will find that it can actually
be in top condition for a very long time.
A Concrete garage floor can be easily
made safe from cracks and peels by using the right paint. Besides, a well-painted floor makes the whole area look neat and organized. This is
one of the main reasons car dealership and mechanic's shops have painted garage floors. You may call a professional for this job and save
yourself some time. However, if you are more of a do it yourself guy, you can definitely finish the work yourself.
The main thing to look for in
your concrete garage floor is whether it has many cracks and peels. In case it does, get good
epoxy paints that adhere to the floor and last longer. In addition, buy primers and concrete cover ups for the cracks. You may get bleach or
special driveway cleaning solutions in order to clean the floor thoroughly. Also, remember to get nylon bristle brushes, gloves and goggles.
The last two will be necessary to keep your hands and eyes protected from dangerous fumes that the primers and paints give
off.
Next, start cleaning the
concrete garage floor. After you have swept away all the dust and other garbage, use bleach or
other cleaning solutions to rub away all the stains on the floor. Next, wash it with water and let the area dry. After that, cover up all the
cracks with the concrete cover materials. Let this dry before covering the floor with the primer. Primer may take up to 8 hours to dry
completely. Finally, paint the floor with the nylon brushes and let it dry for 24 hours before giving a second coating.
