Garage Floor Cleaner

Cleaning the garage can be a long and tedious job. It is usually only done as a spring cleaning task. However, applying a good garage floor cleaner is something that should be done more often to ensure that the concrete is protected to last a long time.

The floor can take a lot of abuse due to the vehicles, the road salt if you live in an area that gets plenty of snowfall. There can also be oil spills, grease and other chemicals on the concrete. 

Many people work on their vehicles in their garage and because of this, their floor is a mess. You do not want to be tracking in oil and grease into the house. A garage floor cleaner is a necessity for a mess like that. If you want to paint the floor, you must make sure that it is prepared first. You cannot paint overtop of grease, dirt and grime. If it is not prepared properly, the paint will not stick.

If you have applied a coating of paint to your garage floor and it did not stick, you will have to use a garage floor cleaner and get all the paint removed. The type of cleaner will need to be a solvent or industrial type cleaner in order to be effective enough. You can find a suitable cleaner at most hardware stores or big box home centers. Make sure you follow the instructions that come with the cleaner.

Another tool that can be used to help with the garage floor cleaner is a pressure washer. Use a machine that has at least twelve hundred to two thousand psi. You can use the pressure washer with a grease removing detergent. Before applying any cleaner and before using the washer, the floor should be brushed with a good stiff push broom to remove all the loose dirt and gravel. You may even have to get down on your hands and knees and use some hard work to scrub the dirty, greasy areas. You may even need to do this task more than once. As you can see, the cleaning of the concrete could take longer and be harder than the actual application of the floor paint.
